Update on Choir ๐พ๐
She has come a long way since being in care. Choir was born in a kennel due to provincial breed regulations in Ontario and relocated to Saskatchewan for a fresh start. Here are a few things that have happened since coming into our rescue:
She's no longer reactive to the TV, yay!!!
Choir has gone from being in a xpen in the same room as her foster siblings to being able to be lay down on the same couch. They also go outside together nicely now!
She is becoming respectful to the other dogs while mom gets meals ready.
Choir is starting to indicate when she needs outside for potty and she hitting the pads laid down for incase mom missed the que!
She's been a champ at kenneling. She sleeps in it all night. During the day, the max I've been away is 3 hours so far has been good.
We are working on meeting more people in our house and going places. When someone first comes in the house she barks (I keep her leashed close to me) but once they are seated, she will calm and then is allowed to go over and sniff. She warms up fairly quickly and will invite you to pet her. Choir is a typical Staffy who wants love, snuggles and affection. She's quite the character and will steal your heart.
She will need someone with patience to let her explore and learn as she goes, as well as work on basic commands in an experienced home or doggy classes. Choir met my grandkids (4yrs & 1.5yr). Their movements were a little fast for her and I did get worked up a bit. This isn’t to say that she won’t ever be good with the littles, it just may take some time. She's learned that she can go lay down and just chill out in the house and its soooo nice!!! Choir does prefer a cushy sofa after kennel life for 2 years but will settle for a plush dog bed as well.
Choir would be really good for a single person with no other pets (maybe a cat), a couple or family looking for their first dog or that has a dog already and are willing to work with them to get to know each other. More hands in the house for petting means no doggo feels left out! I really wants to find a forever home for Choir and I am willing to work with her new family to set us all up for success.
