About Prairie Sky Dog Rescue

No shelter, no paid staff — just a group of people in Regina and Weyburn who believe every dog that comes to us deserves proper care, proper training, and a home that actually fits.

What We Do

Prairie Sky Dog Rescue Inc. is a registered non-profit organization based in southern Saskatchewan. We rescue dogs from abandonment, neglect, and owner surrenders — assess them, place them in foster homes, work on training and any behavioural issues, and find them permanent homes that are a good match for each dog individually.

We don't have a shelter. Every dog in our care lives in a foster home, which means they're in a real house environment from day one. That matters for how they settle, how they behave, and how honestly we can describe them to potential adopters.

How It Works

When a dog comes into our care, we assess them thoroughly and then monitor them for a minimum of two weeks before listing them for adoption. That time lets the dog decompress and lets us see who they actually are — their personality, their quirks, what they need in a home. By the time we talk to you about a dog, we know that dog.

While dogs are with us, they receive proper veterinary care and training using positive reinforcement only. We work on socialization, basic obedience, loose leash walking, house training, and kennel training. When you adopt from us, you're getting a dog that has already had real work put in. We ask that you continue using positive reinforcement methods at home, and we're here to support you after adoption if you need it.

Adoption Fees

Puppies: $350 plus a $100 refundable deposit, returned when you provide proof of spay/neuter after six months of age

Adults: $350

Seniors: $150

Fees go directly toward veterinary care and the cost of running the rescue. When you adopt, you're also freeing up a foster spot for the next dog that needs one.

Foster With Us

Fostering is how we operate. If you have space in your home and your heart for a dog on a temporary basis, we'd love to hear from you. Foster applications are available on the website.

Volunteer and Donate

We run entirely on volunteer time and donated resources. If you want to help but aren't ready to foster or adopt, there are other ways to get involved — including volunteering and donating supplies or funds. The dogs in our care always need leashes, collars, harnesses, kennels, beds, toys, treats, and high-quality food. Monetary donations go toward vet bills.
